rue. I even have the order confirmation sat on the desk in front of me, 3 bags of 3 Kg Cocoa Dusted Almonds are due in tomorrow from Hider. We don’t open til 9, so please queue in an orderly fashion along the street, leaving a space by the ‘Hole in the Wall’ at Barclay’s as we only accept credit/debit cards for goods purchased to the value in excess of £10, so some (SOME) of you may need your cash with you. Many, however, will be stocking up for Christmas and getting at least £10 worth! Update: About half a jar had gone by lunchtime … and that wasn’t to regulars either!

Hampers hampers hampers. Still one of the nicest gifts you can give that show you care. We have a reasonable starting price of £3.99 for a fluted, strong, cardboard box in green or red, filled with shredded paper ‘fill’ (what else?) and finished with crinkly cellophane, Christmas ribbon and decoration. So, you then choose your own gifts from the shop, or give us a theme and we will make one up for you (bodycare, chocaholic, favourite teas, Yorkshire theme … anything is possible (well, almost). I’ve also made up some smaller gift boxes with honeys or jam in, these average about £13 and look the part – very Christmassy. Here you choose two jars of your favourite Yorkshire honey or preserve and I will do the rest – what a great gift to give from our little independent shop in this traditional Dales market town here in North Yorkshire, our legendary county. So, this is it then. Christmas has been arriving in boxes all week. Trees went up on Wednesday and the big Settle Lights Switch On is on Saturday at 4 o’clock. To celebrate and join in with a bit of festive spirit we will be serving mulled wine and mince pies all day …. at least until we run out! We look forward to welcoming you then, or anytime you feel like calling in. Enjoy a warming cup of soup or delicious hot chocolate in The Beehive after your look around Wholesome Bee and beyond … maybe you’ll even fancy a spot of ice skating in the rink at The Lion Hotel opposite (arnica available in cream, gel or homoeopathically!).
As a further outrageously generous gesture, I will extend out mulled wine and nibbles and we’ll do it all again on the Saturday before Christmas …… oh dear, the excitement, the expense, I’ll have to go and lie down ….
